Conclusion In this chapter I have argued that Nitzan and Bichler’s innovative and convincing theory of capital as a mode of power can be enriched and emboldened by further historical investigations into the emergence and universalization of capital as power. My contribution has been to highlight how the rise of capitalization and transformations in global social reproduction coincided with the mass exploitation of fossil fuels.
